BCYP Volunteer Day at the Born Learning Trail

  • Brit Spaugh Zoos 2229-2299 US-281 Great Bend, KS, 67530 United States (map)

In 2014, our group worked diligently with United Way of Central Kansas to install a "Born Learning Trail" at the Great Bend Brit Spaugh Zoo and at the city park in Claflin. This year, we are going to revisit those trails and refresh the paint and signage to ensure that the trail will be enjoyed for years to come!

The Barton County Young Professionals Community Impact Team is looking for volunteers to sign up for a two-hour shift on Wednesday, August 17th from 5-7 p.m. This is our THIRD attempt at scheduling, after two spring events got cancelled due to rain. We are excited to get this project done - really!

All supplies will be provided, but volunteers should wear clothes acceptable for painting in. FREE pizza will be served at 6:15 p.m. for all who volunteer. BYOB (bring your own beverages / non-alcoholic please). If you are interested in helping out in Great Bend or in Claflin, email C.I. Team Chair Traci Burns at tburns@abbb.com with which location you would prefer.

WHAT IS A BORN LEARNING TRAIL?
The United Way Born Learning Trail is an interactive, playful and visible community engagement tool, designed to help parents, caregivers and communities support early learning. The Trail is a community change strategy, helping boost children's language and literacy skills — and encouraging families to get active.
